‘Armored Core VI’ Gets Another Patch That Fixes Bugs, But Doesn’t Touch The Netcode

adminBy adminOctober 13, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

Following the recent multiplayer balancing patch, Armored Core VI now has another new patch to fix various bugs. However, the netcode remains untouched.

The new patch, version 1.04 to be precise, is laid out in detail over on Bandai Namco’s site.

Most of the patch covers off some pretty big bugs, as well as explaining to players how to attain S Ranks (although that does feel a bit late to be honest).

The biggest omission though is that the netcode still has yet to be properly optimised. To understand what I am talking about, have a quick look at the video below.

It’s very clear that the game is not communicating hits properly and this is something that FromSoftware has never really mastered.

This is because FromSoftware doesn’t have much in the way of modern shooter experience when it comes to game development.

This kind of thing was always an issue going as far back as Armored Core 4 and Armored Core For Answer. It was partly “fixed” in Armored Core V and Armored Core Verdict Day as the servers could be separated out by region, allowing players to avoid major lag.

You also have something similar in Armored Core VI, as you can select the region of the servers you want to connect to but even then, the current netcode definitely needs an overhaul.

While the singleplayer setup has received a lot of attention, the multiplayer component does feel a tad bare bones. Here’s hoping the next patch addresses that.

Armored Core VI is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. Feel free to also check out my review.
