OnePlus has confirmed the design of the upcoming OnePlus 12R smartphone and reiterated the global nature of the new handset.
The all-important color choices are on show, with both Cool Blue and Iron Gray featuring on the invite to the upcoming launch event on January 23.
OnePlus has also highlighted the inclusion of the Alert Slider. The three-way switch lets the handset quickly switch between muted, vibrate only, or all alert signals. It also allows you to feel the alert state while the handset is in your pocket or out of sight elsewhere.
Until now, the OnePlus R models have been focused on the Indian market. That is set to change, with the OnePlus 12R also debuting in North America and Europe.
As OnePlus pushes the mainline handsets higher in specifications and price, it leaves a notable gap in the portfolio. The 2020 Nord series launch started to fill this gap; since then, Nord has pushed itself into cheaper price points while the mainline pushes higher. This is the gap that the R series can fill, and this is probably one of the big arguments in favor of a global introduction of the OnePlus 12R.
