Today’s ‘Wordle’ #1097 Hints, Clues And Answer For Thursday, June 20th

adminBy adminJune 20, 2024No Comments4 Mins Read

Looking for Wednesday’s Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:

Thursday isn’t a particularly exciting day as far as days go. It isn’t the end of the work week, nor the beginning of the weekend. It isn’t terribly problematic, as Mondays tend to be, but it’s certainly not the belle of the ball like Friday. Of course, being named after the god Thor helps. And this Thursday is my birthday, which is exciting in a “holy crap, how did I get this old?” sort of way.

Two more interesting things about this Thursday: First, the big expansion for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, releases tonight at 9pm PT (so for a lot of people not until Friday). The new period motorcycle gang movie The Bikeriders also comes to theaters. It looks really good. I’m excited to go see it.

Yesterday was Wednesday, which in many ways is even more milquetoast than Thursday except for one thing: It’s Wordle Wednesday and a chance to solve a special challenge each week. Yesterday’s was a riddle:

“We’re five little items of an everyday sort, you’ll find us all in a tennis court.”

This was actually a riddle given by The Riddler to Batman, and the answer is . . . all five vowels in a row. You see A tEnnIs cOUrt. A – E – I – O – U.

Okay, Batman, let’s do this Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Your first introduction to any good meal.

Can you solve today’s phrase?

The Clue: This Wordle has far more consonants than vowels.

Okay, spoilers below!

The Answer:

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

I was quite happy, perhaps even a little smug, at my Wordle-in-two yesterday. Today isn’t quite as good, but I’ll take three. POISE wasn’t bad, leaving me with just 82 remaining words. I decided to reposition the two yellow boxes rather than go for all new letters and tried STEAD, which left me with six. I came up with SCENT and a couple others but I just had a good feeling about it. I was thinking Al Pacino, Scent of a Woman, and took the leap. Lucky for me, it was right!

Competitive Wordle Score

That smug feeling at getting yesterday’s in two evaporated when I discovered that the beastly Wordle Bot got this one in two. CRANE left him with just one remaining solution. Drat and bedraggle! Still, I got 1 point for guessing in three so losing a point for losing to the Bot leaves me with a big fat zero. I’ll take it!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.

If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “scent” originates from the Old French word “sentir,” meaning “to feel, perceive, smell,” which in turn comes from the Latin “sentire,” meaning “to perceive, feel, know.” The English term evolved in the late 14th century, initially referring to a sense or perception and later becoming more specifically associated with the sense of smell.
