Big Jungler Nerfs, Smite Change

adminBy adminAugust 1, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

Riot Games has revealed the patch notes for League of Legends 13.15 and with it comes some much needed nerfs to top champions at the pro level, some changes to how smite works and even more balance changes for the new Arena mode, which is really good!

For anyone who watches a lot of pro League of Legends the nerfs to both Sejuani and Maokai, who have been regular appearances at the top level, will be very welcome. Both have been given nerfs to their damage to try and reduce how good they are in the jungle at the pro level, with Sejuani’s W damage being nerfed and Maokai’s Q damage to monsters being reduced. This should stop them being so good at killing the jungle monsters and hopefully bring some other junglers into the pro meta.

Speaking of junglers, Ivern has also been given some big changes, most notably a big reduction in Daisy’s up time, with her duration dropping from 60 seconds to just 45. There’s also some other changes that are trying to push Ivern into a more supportive role rather than a massive AP damage dealer.

On a somewhat related note, most of the summoned pets in League of Legends, including Daisy, have been tweaked in some way because how smite interacts with them has changed. Whereas previously they were treated like any other minion or monster in the game, now these summoned pets will be treated like heroes, so smite will do less damage but when upgraded will slow them.

This means that the pets will no longer be pretty useless in any fight where the jungler has smite available. They have also been rebalanced to scale with champion level rather than ultimate level, so the power curve should be a lot smoother rather than being super strong at level six and then falling off massively for the next five minutes.

There’s also a ton of buffs and nerfs specifically for the new Arena mode which is proving to be very popular. After some more general changes last time out the team is looking to try and balance champions on an individual basis rather than as a class from here on out. But they are keeping an eye on tanks and assassins who do not appear to be having a great time in the 2v2v2v2 mode.

Rounding out the patch are some general quality of life improvements, including the ability to gift an event pass to a pal, and a few more bug fixes than usual.
