Fox News Host Causes Confusion By Declaring Trump Was Found Not Guilty

adminBy adminJune 18, 2023No Comments3 Mins Read

Donald Trump was arraigned in Miami this week on 37 federal charges related to his refusal to hand over highly classified documents to the U.S. National Archives. But if follow Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on Facebook, you may have gotten some peculiar news about the case. That’s because Kilmeade wrote Trump had already been found not guilty.

“CNN Hosts Go NUCLEAR As Trump Is Found Not Guilty And Refuse To Air His Speech,” Kilmeade wrote at Facebook on Friday.

The Facebook post was accompanied with a clip of Kilmeade talking about the fact that CNN and MSNBC refused to air Trump’s comments from his New Jersey golf course after the arraignment. It appears, though I can’t be sure, that whoever wrote the post for Kilmeade intended to write something about how Trump has issued a plea of not guilty. But I can’t be sure.

The post received a number of comments, mostly from fans of the former president who believe the charges against Trump are politically motivated. According to a recent NBC News poll, 76% of likely Republican voters believe the charges brought by the U.S. Department of Justice are politically motivated, while just 12% believe Trump’s actions pose a national security risk. Strangely, 12% of Republicans believe the charges are both politically motivated and evidence of a real national security risk.

The Facebook error by Kilmeade’s account, first reported by Mediaite, also caused plenty of people to scratch their heads about what was really going on. Was Kilmeade actually trying to claim Trump had been found not guilty in some way? Or was this a really stupid error?

“you should double check before you post. He PLEAD not guilty NOT he was FOUND not guilty,” one commenter explained.

Trump has now been indicted twice, including charges in New York over misclassification of business expenses related to hush money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels. Trump denies having an affair with Daniels but does not deny the existence of the payments, probably because the checks bear his signature.

There’s also widespread speculation that Trump will be charged in Georgia over a pressure campaign to get election officials in that state to make him the winner.

“So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state,” Trump said according to a recording of the phone call first obtained by the Washington Post on January 3, 2021.

The date is notable because it was just a few days before Trump would stage a rally dubbed the “Stop the Steal” rally where he instructed his followers to descend on the U.S. Capitol where the Electoral College votes were being certified on January 6, 2021.

“So what are we going to do here, folks? I only need 11,000 votes. Fellas, I need 11,000 votes. Give me a break,” Trump said.

If officials in Georgia move ahead with charges, that will certainly be an interesting development, given all the history-making charges against the former president.
