2-Year-Old Earns A Grammy Nomination For Her Collaboration With Earth, Wind & Fire (And Her Mom)

adminBy adminNovember 11, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

There have been a few instances of children — people who aren’t yet 18, that is — earning Grammy nominations. The vast majority of these young artists are teenagers who simply got their start in the music industry early. That statement has been taken to a new extreme, as it’s possible that there’s a new record for the youngest Grammy nominee ever.

This year, a two-year-old is listed as a Grammy nominee. Yes, that’s right — someone who has yet to turn three is officially up for the most prestigious award in the music industry.

Hazel Monét is nominated for Best Traditional R&B Performance as a featured artist, along with the legendary R&B group Earth, Wind & Fire, on the song “Hollywood” which is fronted by her mother, Victoria Monét.

She was born on February 21, 2021, and it’s not surprising that Hazel may now hold the record for the youngest Grammy nominee ever. Hazel is one of the only people to be nominated for a Grammy before the age of 10, but she’s not the only one.

Leah Peasall was just eight when she won Album of the Year as a featured artist on the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. She was credited on that full-length with her siblings, The Peasall Sisters. She still holds the record as the youngest winner of all time.

Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy also won a trophy before she was 10. She earned the Best Music Video prize alongside her mother for the visual “Brown Skin Girl” back in 2021, just months before her tenth birthday.

The elder Monét is one of the most-nominated artists at the 2024 Grammy Awards. The R&B singer appears in a number of categories, including Record of the Year and Best New Artist, among others.
