Dean Phillips Vows To Appoint Republicans To Cabinet

adminBy adminNovember 13, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

On Forbes Newsroom, 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) vowed to appoint Republicans to his cabinet should he win the White House.

Phillips promised to select an ideologically diverse cabinet, with Republicans and Democrats holding positions.

“I think it’s absurd that we have American presidents who populate their cabinet with people who think entirely the same way,” the Minnesota Democrat told Forbes. “That is the recipe for what we have right now.”

He offered praise for non-MAGA Republicans like former Reps. Liz Cheney, Peter Meijer, and Anthony Gonzalez.

In the days of staffing his own cabinet, Biden repeatedly stated his goal was to create an administration that “looks like America.” Phillips took that promise a step further. “Not only will my cabinet look like America, my cabinet will think like America.”

Then-presidential candidate Biden vowed he would select a woman for his running mate. When asked if he would make such commitments, Phillips only said he would select a Democrat.

“It will be a person of integrity, of competency, of innovation and someone who is not going to be beholden to this political industrial complex who have compromised, in my estimation, the very best people in Washington who come with integrity.”

Phillips all but ruled out the incumbent Vice President, Kamala Harris, citing her poor ratings in polls. “President Biden has historically low approval numbers, and Vice President Harris has even lower approval numbers.”
