The ‘Tough Love’ Pep Talk You Need For Your Job Search

adminBy adminJune 25, 2023No Comments2 Mins Read

If you have been interviewing for a while now to no avail, it is understandable that you might feel frustrated, tired, depressed and even burned out. Hopefully, you can take solace in knowing that you are not alone. All the things you have been experiencing—from the rejections to the ghosting to the backstabbing and self-sabotaging—are also lived by other job hunters.

Here’s What You Need To Do Right Away

Take a deep breath, relax and understand it’s not just you. Finding a new job is hard work and involves incredible stress. Most people only want to talk about their successes.

When you talk to friends and family, they might share their highlight reel by telling you how easily they found their new jobs and how much money they are making now. Often, they don’t offer the whole picture and how many “no’s” they had to hear before someone took a chance on them.

Focus On The Result

Throughout the job search process, be prepared to get your feelings hurt and your ego bruised. When you are interviewing, sometimes, you will have to endure what feels like sucker punch after sucker punch. It’s all a part of the game. In business, it is essential to remember not to take anything personally—although it’s easier said than done.

Focus on your ultimate goal and where you want to be, and confidently tackle it. It’s too easy to throw in the towel, stay where you are and remain unhappy. You must persevere, work hard and stay strong throughout the highs and lows.

When facing the hard times in your job search, remember to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move forward. The right job will eventually come along.

You only have to be in the right place at the right time once to succeed. Then, when that time comes—and it will—you can look back and say it was all worth it in the end.
